That (above) is a younger slimmer me. I put it there for inspiration. I'm Julie. I've gained weight with the stress of grad school and kids. I want to find diet and exercise habits I can live with forever. I'll mostly post things related to this effort, but will probably also post random stuff I like.

So this is my 4th day back “on the wagon”

So far the diet aspect hasn’t been too hard.  I’m honestly not being all that rigid.  I’m tracking all of my food with this nifty app on my phone.  I am counting calories, which I wasn’t before, but it’s pretty easy to do since my phone is always with me.  I’m not really counting anything else, but I’m staying away from “bad carbs”  So far I’m happy with it.  It feels very sustainable.

Exercise, on the other hand … I’m 0 for 4.

So that’s something to work on.

Me in my new swimsuit :)
For every guy out there who thinks you’re too fat, there are hundreds more waiting to fall head-over-heels in love with your wide hips, your bouncy butt, and your thunder thighs. Love yourself and others will too. <3

My motivation for getting back on track:

Sadly, I am not spurred back into action by my long term goals of a healthier happier me.  My birthday is in a couple of weeks and ugh, my mother is a camera fanatic.  I’m afraid photos will be unavoidable.  I hope I can at least lose a few pounds before then.

Cute vampire pumpkins:

Tools & Materials

  • Thumbtack or pin
  • Small white pumpkin (For a big bite, choose a small pumpkin so the plastic vampire teeth seem huge)
  • Miniature saw
  • Plastic vampire teeth
  • Small red map tacks
  1. Print mouth template. Lay template on pumpkin, and poke thumbtack through, all along outline, to transfer design. Cut out with saw; remove excess flesh.
  2. Wedge teeth into hole.
  3. For eyes, pin map tacks onto pumpkin.

I HAVE TO MAKE THESE FOR MY WINDOW SILL! AHHHHHHHHHH LOVE IT!
